GILBERT, AZ – June 16, 2025 – Step into a world of pure imagination with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the beloved musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic tale. Hale Centre Theatre Arizona is thrilled to announce their summer production of this wondrous musical, opening on July 5 at Hale Centre Theatre Arizona (located at 50 West Page Avenue, Gilbert, AZ 85233) Join young Charlie Bucket as he embarks on a magical journey through Willy Wonka's whimsical chocolate factory. Filled with enchanting music, fantastical sets, and larger-than-life characters, this delightful production promises a sweet treat for the whole family, sparking wonder and joy at every turn. 

Under the direction of Cambrian James, with music direction from Lincoln Wright, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features a delectable score by Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, Mary Poppins Returns) and lyrics by Shaiman and Tony Award winner Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can). The book is by Tony Award winner David Greig.

Hale Centre Theatre Arizona's production stars Nicholas Gunnell as the enigmatic Willy Wonka, with Griffin Avery and Benicio "Beni" Bermudez sharing the role of Charlie Bucket. The cast also features William Lovell as Agustus Gloop, Maddie Sue Miller as Veruca Salt, Janaysha Garcia as Violet Beauregarde, Albert Mendoza as Mike Teavee, Gary Pimpentel as Grandpa Joe, Trevon Powell as Mr. Beauregarde, Cameron Rollins as Mr. Salt, Kathleen Richards as Mrs. Gloop, Karissa Anderson as Mrs. Teavee and Amanda Valenzuela as Mrs. Bucket.

The creative team includes scenic and costume design by Brielle Hawkes, lighting design by Ashton Corey, and sound design by Adam Chagnon.
